Xeomin® is a type of botulinum toxin that is used for the cosmetic treatment for moderate to severe lines between the eyebrows.
Like Botox®, the active ingredients in Xeomin work by relaxing the muscles that create facial lines. A treatment corrects your forehead lines and frown lines for several months.
If You're Considering Xeomin
Xeomin is indicated for adults under 65 years old who are bothered by facial wrinkles and lines. Xeomin can help you achieve a younger appearance by treating conditions like:
- Glabellar lines
- Crow's Feet
- Forehead lines
Therapeutic treatments for Xeomin can also address muscle spasms and cervical dystonia. If you're considering Xeomin, be sure to inform your surgeon if you have a known hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin preparation or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
What Happens During Xeomin Treatment?
In our office, we administer the injection, placing the toxin into the muscles where it will block the chemical signals being sent from the nerves to the muscles. Larger muscles require higher doses. Treatment time for the procedure is estimated at about 15 minutes.
After Your Xeomin Treatment
There is no downtime involved with Xeomin injection. You should remain upright for six hours and avoid alcohol following the procedure. Results will begin to take effect within four to eight days and should last about four to six months.
Common side effects include swelling, pain at the injection site, bruising, headache and nausea. If any of your symptoms worsen, or if you notice any unusual symptoms, please seek help immediately.
